Eric’s Story (How we create success every time)
Eric came from Salt Lake City for his smile makeover after Dr. Featherstone moved to Henderson. His dramatic transformation changed his looks and his life. The following is a step-wise approach that we perform on all cosmetic patients, including the rest in the gallery. The basic principle is to “begin with the end in mind.” At a “records” appointment, 14 images were made with a digital camera, and impressions were made for plaster casts of Eric’s teeth. Later, Dr. Featherstone personally designed Eric’s new smile on Adobe Photoshop. He used Eric’s preferences, principles of aesthetic dentistry standardized by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and Dr. Featherstone’s artistic sense. Next, the differences in the before and after smiles were recorded and converted to millimeters. This information was used to “mock up” the new smile on the plaster casts.
Dr. Featherstone personally sculpted Eric’s teeth with plastic putty. He believes that solving the problems encountered during “construction” is best handled by the doctor. The machine shown above allowed Dr. Featherstone to design the bite based on principles that will keep Eric’s Empress veneers strong and long lasting. These materials were used to make Eric’s prototype veneers, and ultimately, the final veneers.
